Bridges, formerly the League for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the EAR Foundation, is a Nashville non-profit that benefits the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. I have sat on their board for the past three years, and each year we do a big spring fund-raiser. That big fund-raiser falls on the day of the Kentucky Derby, so we of course get dressed up for this quintessentially Southern event: the men wear bow ties and the ladies put on their biggest, most flamboyant hats.
For 2015 I wanted to do a new painting for the silent auction, so I combined returned to the larger size canvas I did my urban landscapes with the colorful abstraction Ive been doing the past year.
The result is striking and fun.
You cant buy the original (someone won it in the auction) but you can buy a print.
And of course I made a video!
